Grrreta's Viewer Mail - Vol. 1
This is our very first installment of Grrreta's Viewer Mail. Periodically, we will present a question from one of our readers and ask you to offer your advice. We appreciate any suggestions you may have to help answer our perplexed reader's question. Here is our first question:
Dear Grrreta's Readers,
Is it bad manners to sit in a chair next to my mommy at the dinner table and lick between all of my toes?
Sincerely,
Pinky

I think it would be okay to do that, as long as you don't show spot #13 to those at the dinner table. That would just be rude.

We think it might be hard to eat because our food is all the way on the other side of the kitchen.
If you just used the litter box, I am thinking "no" but other than that, lick away!
My answer to Pinky would be this:
We cats pride ourselves on our excellent grooming and there is never a need to apologize for cleanliness!

I would say its OK unless you start chewing on your clawrs. That seems to make humans squirm.

We thinks this is okay as long as we stay on the chair and don't do it on the table. Also, we should not ever try to lick between our momma's toesies.
We haf no prublem wit dis.

I think it is fine to groom while seated at the dinner table. Just do not groom your Spot #13 until after dinner.
AS you know, cars rule the home,so this is perfectly acceptable :)
It's good to be clean before eating ;)

It is okay to lick your toesies at the table next to your Mom - especially if you have just walked through her mashed potatoes!!!

I have no problem with this! We cats are supposed to have the rule of the household!
Dear Pinky,
I'm thinking the only bad thing would be if your mommy does the same thing!

I think that Beans always want clean paws at the table, so that sounds okay to me.
Your buddy, Jimmy Joe
The people should be honored that you would be at their table at all, even more so that you would present yourself as so comfortable that you can even groom those places. Groom away!!

Abby Normal & Stygia
It would be bad manners to have dirty toes so licking them is good manners!
