I've told the story in previous posts about how Teddi, Ambrose, and Chloe adopted Mommy and me, ...but Ambrose and Chloe weren't Teddi's last litter of kittens. When Ambrose and Chloe were about eleven weeks old, Mommy noticed that the daddy kitty (McLovin) was visiting Teddi a lot. Teddi was still too wild to let Mommy catch her to put her in a pet carrier, so Mommy bought a humane trap so she could trap Teddi to take her to get spayed. When Mommy realized that the trap shouldn't be used around kittens, she called a local feral cat rescue organization for advice and/or help. They told Mommy they could trap Teddi safely. Mommy offered a donation to the organization and to cover all vet costs, and they agreed to help in about ten days. Mommy mentioned that McLovin seemed to be in the mood for love before then, but the organization leader said he couldn't do it any sooner and that Teddi most likely wouldn't get pregnant since she had just given birth eleven weeks before and was still nursing. Mommy didn't really believe that, but she couldn't think of any other options, so she waited the ten days. The guy didn't call, didn't show up, and didn't return her phone calls, so after an additional week and a half, Mommy finally figured out the guy was not going to keep his word. By that time Teddi was already pregnant, so a little more than four months after Ambrose and Chloe were born, a litter of five beautiful kittens were born. Since Teddi had become more tame, she was more trusting and not nearly as over-protective of the second litter. The new kittens weren't fearful of Mommy at all, and they let her pet them and hold them right away. They were very independent at an early age. Although they were born outdoors like the first litter, as soon as they could eat solid food, they decided on their own to start living indoors. Teddi, the feral mama kitty, had to start living indoors in order to be with her kittens. Mommy knew that she couldn't keep the second litter forever, so once the kittens were old enough, she found them all good forever homes. Their first birthday is approaching, and even though they left us several months ago to live with their new families, we want to share some adorable baby pictures of them and wish a happy first birthday to Clara, Karolina, Rhett, Sven, and Nicholai.
